Simul Management Shorts Transportation Pay, In Breach of Contract

Simul management has been underpaying transportation reimbursement in violation of contracts it signed with employees. For employees travelling to the Toranomon location by way of Shimbashi station, Simul management has only paid transportation expenses to Shimbashi station, not to the closest public transportation to the Toranomon school. Shimbashi station is a half hour walk or a 160 yen subway ride away from the Toranomon school.

According to instructors’ contracts, “Transportation costs between the instructor’s place of residence and one work location will be paid…on an actual and most economical cost basis using public transportation system, within a ceiling of 120,000 yen per term.”

In a previous case of underpayment of transportation reimbursement, Simul agreed in collective bargaining to pay the employee 80,000 yen in back transportation reimbursement.
